Logic Pro X Studio Horns and Studio Strings are high-quality multisampled brass and string libraries that offer a collection of solo and grouped instrument presets. Each preset provides a range of articulations so you can create expressive, nuanced performances and recordings.
Some articulation features, such as polyphonic true legato, apply to all presets. Others articulation features are specific to certain instruments. If necessary, click the disclosure triangle next to Details in the New Tracks dialog, then choose Studio Horns or Studio Strings from the Instrument pop-up menu.
Studio instruments are available in mono, stereo, or multi-output format. Studio instruments also include preset patches, with predefined articulation sets and effects. Select the track, then click the library button. Select Studio Horns or Studio Strings from the list on the left, then select the patch you want to use from the list on the right. Patches include presets based on classic recordings such as Abbey Wood and Memphis Blast.
Articulation features in the Studio instruments help you create more realistic string and horn parts. Studio Strings provides several articulations for falls, and Studio Horns provides several articulations for falls and doits. You can play these articulations on your keyboard like any other articulation. To hear an articulation from the plug-in window, click on the Articulation pop-up menu in the plug-in header and choose from the available articulations.
Studio instruments show the most recently played articulation in the plug-in window. You can create a smooth fall or doit using the Piano Roll editor.

To load an articulation set, make sure to first select a Studio instruments patch using the Library. In the Piano Roll editor, add a second note of the same pitch directly following any note. There should be a minimal gap between the two notes. To perform falls or doits using a keyboard, you can use the predefined keyswitches for falls, doits, and other articulations.
These operate in Trigger mode, which automatically creates the Fall or Doit, and places it immediately after the previous note. To open the window, click the center area of the plug-in slot.
In the instrument window, click the Preset pop-up menu, then click or double-click a section or a single instrument icon to load the sound. Use articulation features Articulation features in the Studio instruments help you create more realistic string and horn parts.

Also, some patches may use Track Stacks to layer instruments, and to provide tracks to automate effects used in the patch. Most of the content included with Logic Pro X is in the patch format. Loading an existing patch is simple: choose the track in the tracks area you'd like to load a patch onto, open the Library by clicking the Library button in the control bar, and navigate to the patch you'd like to load.
A single click on the patch name in the Library will load it. You'll notice that the library will show different patches, depending on whether you are working with an audio, software instrument including Drummer trackAux, or Output. In many cases, aux channels with reverb, delay, or other effects will also be added to the mixer, and sends to the aux channels will appear on the channel strip.
The patch includes a Retro Synth setting, several audio plug-ins and a send on Bus 1 to an aux. Looking at the Mixer, you can see the aux channel includes a bypassed Chorus, a Space Designer reverb setting, and a Channel EQ setting.
Had the song already used Bus 1 for some other purpose, Logic would have used the next available bus as a send.
This indicates that the patch Insert Slot has Library focus, and so the Library shows patches. Hover the mouse cursor to the left of other Insert Slots on the channel strip.
Notice the gray triangle:. Notice that the library now displays Retro Synth settings instead of complete patches. You can load a different setting into the Instrument Slot, while keeping the other elements of the channel strip. Select the physical MIDI output for your synthesiser and audio input, as in the first example. The External Instrument plug-in makes your hardware synth like a virtual instrument. MIDI can be recorded and MIDI and audio plug-ins added to the signal path, effectively creating a hybrid of the previous two-track approach.
The only catch with the External Instrument plug-in solution is recording. The next level of integration is to add some software-based controls for your instrument. This is particularly useful for hardware like the Roland Boutique series that can occasionally have small controls, or hidden features. Here, you should find the instrument object for the track you created earlier.
Logic will ask you if you want to remove the channel-port assignment, click Remove to okay this. You should still see the MIDI data, however. Moving the fader on your synth should highlight its controller assignment in the Monitor object. Cable the faders serially, starting from the output of the Monitor object and ending with the last fader. Change their controller assignment for Input and Output to match the controller message transmitted from your synth.
Cable the object at the end of the chain of faders, and set its output assignment to correspond to the MIDI output for the synthesiser. The mini onscreen editor accesses your chosen parameters. Dynamic parameter changes can be recorded, with the movements visualised using the onscreen faders, or you can store sounds as part of the project. One final point worth mentioning is the ability to lock sequencers or LFOs on your hardware synth.

However, the sample you mentioned is actually part of the GarageBand Library Did you install GB too? Just that and nothing else and see if it finds your missing file. If it doesn't find it. You may need to rebuild Spotlight afterwards as described below. Logic uses Spotlight to find everything it needs.

I don't think so. You could always reinsert the instrument so it gets the new piano instead of the old one. Is is possible to copy the audio files from the orginal Logic Pro 9 on my older Imac Part of the problem is that I was previously using Logic Pro from the box CD set, but when I migrated to the new Imac, it would not recognize the original seial number.

I tried several times - but each time it appeared as though the serial number was missing a couple of digits. In desperation I downloaded Logic Pro 9. As far as I can see everything that was in the old Logic audio folder on my other Imac computer is in the audio folder for logic int the library on this computer after the download I cannot work onmy new computer on any of the current projects that I am involved in because the elements are missing!!!
The worst case scenario, I imagine, is to repurchase the full studio version.
